Eighteen years ago, Rossana Llenado was a 25-year-old mother of twin boys. Not wanting to miss any of her children’s growing up moments, she looked for a business that would not only allow her to take care of her boys, but to make a difference in the lives of others as well. Fortunately, she didn’t have to look too far.

Right beside their home was a school, and Rossana found out that many of its students were in need of tutorials. She wasted no time in developing tutoring sessions that were dynamic, effective, and fun—qualities that traditional tutoring organizations never thought to offer. For those who knew Rossana, such a move didn’t come as a surprise. Even as a child, she had always been an enterprising innovator.

It didn’t take long before AHEAD Tutorial & Review Center became a neighborhood success. But there were better things to come.

Together with a group of topnotch educators, Rossana created the Test-based Review Program for students taking the college admissions test of the University of the Philippines. AHEAD would eventually make programs for the Ateneo de Manila University College Entrance Test and the De La Salle University College Entrance Test.

Apart from such innovations in their program offerings, AHEAD also came up with an inspired marketing effort. It positioned itself as the home of academic achievers, emphasizing the importance of tutorials both for honor students and for those lagging behind with their schoolwork. These factors propelled the center into national consciousness, making the AHEAD brand top-of-mind when it came to tutorial services.

In its 18 years in the business, AHEAD Tutorial & Review Center’s growth has been phenomenal. More than opening one branch after another, AHEAD prides itself in having helped thousands of young people achieve their academic dreams by helping them get better grades and assisting them in gaining admission to the country’s top universities.

For Rossana, it all comes down to purity of intentions. From the very start, she had wanted to make a difference in other people’s lives—and she has done so many times over by helping children do better in school, by giving parents more opportunities to spend quality time with their kids, by providing employment and experience to tutors, and by providing professionals with opportunities to share their knowledge and expertise with learners of all ages.

Eighteen years hence, there is no doubt that AHEAD Tutorial & Review Center will still be around, making a difference in the lives of others.
