It’s almost the time of the year when high school graduates prepare for their dream college’s entrance test. Since it’s probably one of the most – if not THE most – difficult exams students have to take in their life, there is no such thing as being overly prepared.
Some students prepare for the CET by enrolling in review centers while some do the review by themselves. Either way, these tips will help you be organized in preparing for this very important test:
- Use a planner
Planning every hour of your schedule might be a bit obsessive compulsive, but not if you are preparing for a big test. Wasting precious time is not a very wise decision when you have to study a lot of topics in a short period of time. Writing your hourly schedule on a planner will definitely keep you on track and make you avoid distractions in order to achieve your daily goal.
- Find a comfortable study area
If you prefer silence, better to choose an isolated place in the house. If you are okay with some noise, it’s still better to find a quiet place and just play some background music to avoid distractions. Make sure you have enough space for all your study materials like books and notes. Check if the table is not too high or too low and if the lighting is too dark or too bright.
- Organize your study space
Get all the things you need when studying such as notebooks, pens, highlighters, sticky notes etc and properly organize them Make sure that everything is in the right place so it’s easier for you to get whatever you need instead of going to different rooms to retrieve something you forgot to bring or waste time finding something you misplaced.
- Schedule your breaks
Students have a tendency to take multiple or longer than usual breaks when studying. When on break, it’s easy to get distracted because you re unconsciously looking for an excuse to not go back to studying just yet. If you keep your breaks on a strict schedule, it will help you stay focus and become more productive.
- Take down notes.
Notes are your brain’s bestfriends. Do not just rely on your memory because it can only hold so much. If you write important words or concepts on your notes, it will serve as your personal reviewer and it will more likely stick on your mind. You can also write down your to-do list to keep track of your progress everyday.
