There’s a test coming soon and you’ve tried everything. However, you still can’t get the lesson. You try to study more but end up failing to learn. That is the reality of student life especially when you have a lot of things on your mind. Here are some tips that can help you break out of your studying rut.
Eat Your Favorite Meal
It’s nearly impossible to study on an empty stomach, so before you study, feel free to eat any meal you like, probably pizza, but salmon sashimi is also recommended, since it helps with memory retention. Eating your favorite meal can also allow you to get the inner peace you need to study. However, don’t eat too much, since a full stomach can make you sleepy. Also, binge overeating will make you feel uncomfortable, which can hinder your studying.
Naps Can Help
Sometimes, you may not be able to retain knowledge due to exhaustion. So, feel free to take a nap from time to time to allow your body to rest. Once recharged, you will be able to retain and process information better than before. Just remember not to sleep too much, since too much rest can make you feel dazed. Also, you might oversleep and miss an important deadline.
Walk Around the Room
When stuck in the academic rut, it can be good to stand up and walk around, since ideas may be able to come in. Walking around is helpful because it gets the blood pumping in your legs, and eventually, the blood will bring oxygen to your brain. Thus, a brisk walk can energize you, and it may allow concepts to enter your brain.
Call a Friend
If you are stuck in a certain subject, then you can call a friend to help you out. People learn at a different pace, so if you are in a rut, it does not mean your friend is in the same boat. In fact, your friend may be able to understand the lesson, so feel free to ask him/her for help. So, just like Who Wants to be a Millionaire? you are allowed to phone a friend for help. Just don’t do it during the quiz, OK?
Consult Your Teachers
If your friends are unable to help you, then you can consult your teacher. In class, teachers can’t help every student since their attention is divided. However, in a one-on-one consultation, the teacher can give you his/her undivided attention. Also, in college, it is mandatory for profs to give their consultation hours, while in basic education, feel free to meet your teacher after dismissal. Just make sure you set a proper appointment and prepare for your consultation, so you can make the most of it.
Get a Tutor for Professional Help
There is no shame in asking for professional help, if your friend or your prof can’t, since a tutor may be able to see things you don’t.
