What is UST LEAPMed?
The Learning-Enhanced Accelerated Program for Medicine (LEAPMed) at the University of Santo Tomas is a six-year fast-track program leading to a medical degree. Students first take a two-year BS Basic Human Studies course, then proceed to a four-year Doctor of Medicine program. This means you’ll be able to earn both a bachelor’s degree and a medical degree in just six years.

Who is eligible to apply for LEAPMed?
Applicants must be current Grade 12 students who meet specific academic requirements:
- STEM strand (open to Thomasians and non-Thomasians) with at least a 90.00 General Average in Grade 11
- GAS-Health Allied strand (for Thomasians only) with at least a 90.00 General Average
- International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma students taking Biology Higher Level, with a predictive Grade 11 score of at least 28 points (excluding Extended Essay and Theory of Knowledge)
Note: Graduates from previous school years are not eligible to apply.

How do I apply for UST LEAPMed?
When filling out your application on the UST portal, simply indicate “Yes” when asked if you’d like to apply for the LEAPMed program under the Faculty of Medicine and Surgery. After that, you may choose your Priority Program and Alternative Program.

How many students get into UST LEAPMed?
The program is highly selective. Out of all applicants, only the top 220 scorers from the USTET and the LEAPMed Entrance Test move forward to an interview stage. From there, only 90 students are officially admitted into the program.

How much is the application fee for UST LEAPMed?
- Testing Center in the Philippines: PhP 3,600.00
- Testing Center Abroad: PhP 9,000.00

What if I don’t qualify for LEAPMed?
If you don’t make it to the program, don’t worry—your application will still be processed for your Priority and Alternative Programs indicated in your UST application form.

Can I apply with international credentials?
Yes, but only if you are a current Grade 12 IB Diploma student taking Biology Higher Level. Additional conditions include:
- Your school must not be in its first year of offering the IB program.
- Your Grade 11 IB predictive score must be at least 28 points (excluding Extended Essay and Theory of Knowledge).
- A minimum Grade 11 General Average of 90.00 is required.
Past IB graduates are not eligible.

What exams do I need to take for LEAPMed?
Applicants must take two exams on the same day:
- USTET – covers Mental Ability, English, Mathematics, and Science
- LEAPMed Entrance Test – includes Anatomy, Botany, Chemistry, Physics, Physiology, and Zoology
Both tests are mandatory, even for IB students.
