In a few weeks, you’ll be back to your old routine of listening to lectures, reading books, and finishing up homework. The new school year is just around the corner, and with it, new lessons to learn, new friends to make, and new goals to attain. If summer is still very much on your mind, here are some ways to get you ready to hit the books!

Prepare your campus arsenal: A new school year means a fresh set of school supplies. Don’t leave the shopping to mom. Volunteer to do it yourself. Ask your mom for your budget for school supplies. Have fun choosing exactly the type of pen, pencil, notebook, and other school supplies you like while keeping within your budget. It’s going to be quite a challenge, but you’ll do fine for sure!

Get into the groove: Put your training wheels on. Start refreshing your mind by doing mental exercises. Set aside 20 to 30 minutes every day to do some schoolwork. You can do a science experiment one day and solve mathematical equations the next. It might be a good idea to brush up on your reading too. If you have a favorite book, then how about going through it again? You’ll be surprised to find new meaning in the words.

Go back to your schooltime bedtime routine: You’ve probably been sleeping late and waking up early the past few weeks. That’s perfectly understandable. It’s summer after all, and you’re on a break! But as school opening draws near, you need to start reorienting your body clock to schooltime. If you want to have a great first day in school, you would need to be in tip-top form—and getting the right amount of sleep at the right time will help you achieve just that.
