He spent his undergraduate years at the Ateneo, where he received the OZANAM award for writing. He was widely admired for always standing up for what he believed in.
2. Manny V. Pangilinan is one of the most prominent businessmen in the country today. He is the chairman of PLDT, TV5, and Metro Pacific Investments Corporation (MPIC). A cum laude graduate from the Ateneo, he received a Wharton scholarship from a Procter & Gamble national competition. In his press interviews, he always emphasizes the value of education, stressing that there are no shortcuts to success.
3. Antonio Meloto is the man behind the Gawad Kalinga project, which is responsible for building thousands of homes for the less fortunate, giving them hope to carry on. He was a full academic scholar of the Ateneo de Manila University, graduating with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics. He has inspired thousands of volunteers from around the world, and has received distinguished honors for his noble efforts.
4. Benigno Aquino III became the third youngest presidential-elect of the Republic of the Philippines. He studied at the Ateneo from grade school to college. Though said to be quiet in class, he eventually became a member of the Blue Babble Batallion. He wants to be remembered as a president who made things better for the country.
5. Jose Rizal was a renaissance man in the true sense of the word. He was a doctor, farmer, naturalist, novelist, poet, artist, athlete, musician, ophthalmologist, and social scientist. He studied at the Ateneo in his formative years. He would write two of the most important books in Philippine history, “Noli Me Tangere” and “El Filibusterismo.”
